Let's Talk Butter

butter.jpg

Butter is an essential ingredient when it comes to making dessert. It can create moist and rich cakes, creamy frosting. Which butter should you use in your baking?.

There are so many types of butter that range from salted butter and unsalted butter. The butter that we regularly see in the supermarket is the salted butter. In this type of butter, you have no idea how much salt there is, so when you are making a cake or a pie crust it is better for you to leave out the salt in the recipe or taste the barter first then add the salt. This way you can adjust your salt content in your baking.  Salted butter has a longer shelf life this is due to their salt content acting as their preservatives.

The unsalted butter has no added salt. Many of the recipes that I have come across use this type of butter. This is because you can adjust the salt in your baking without worrying about the salt content in the butter. It has a mild but delicious flavor and it plays an important key ingredient in making pastry.

It does not matter what type of butter you prefer to use, some people like to use salted butter and some like to use unsalted butter. Just remember to put the butter at room temperature before using it in your baking unless your recipe indicates otherwise. Allow the butter to sit outside your fridge, put it at your countertop until it is soft to the touch. Other methods include softening the butter in a microwave on a low setting.

I hope this help. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
